The Infectious Disease Research Collaboration (IDRC)

IDRC will coordinate, implement and monitor activities to achieve project objectives, deliverables and milestones. This will involve management of project start-up, formation of governance and oversight structures, establishment of the consortium agreement, staff recruitment and develop the monitoring and evaluation framework. The Uganda Heart Institute (UHI)

UHI will train district and primary health care staff in intervention districts, promote collaboration among multi disciplinary teams to provide integrated hypertension and HIV care in Uganda, while providing mentorship and support supervision to health providers involved in HTN/HIV work. It will also strengthen the capacity of the UHI to serve as a training centre for short courses on hypertension care. For more information about UHI, please visit http://uhi.go.ug/




The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM)

ThLSHTM in co-operation with IDRC, will determine the effectiveness of the integrated HIV/HTN care model; and assess the barriers and facilitators of the integrated HIV/HTN intervention at different levels including middle level managers, Primary Health Care (PHC) leaders and providers; and patients. It will also determine the cost, cost effectiveness and incremental gain costs of the integrated HIV/Hypertension care model intervention. Makerere University, Kampala (MAK)

Makerere University is responsible for Implementation Science Training. This involves providing short courses in ImS to District Health Officers (DHOs) in the participating districts, policy makers and stakeholders of the HIV and HTN technical working groups at MoH to enable them to utilize ImS methodologies in implementing the integrated HIV/HTN care model. Makerere University will also contribute to developing a centre of excellence for capacity building in ImS. The Ministry of Health (MOH) Uganda

TheMoH is responsible for raising public awareness about the project among defined target groups using effective communication means and tools. It will also exchange experience with projects and groups working in the HTN/HIV field for synergies and minimize duplication, while disseminating the knowledge, methodologies and technologies developed during the project. MoH will also closely follow the results exploitation and dissemination plan to make sure that all components are adhered to and regular updates are made. It will develop a coordination plan with key stakeholders, to broaden the reach of the information coming from the collaboration.
